As predicted, Nas’ Untitled hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 this week. On that very day - today - he joined protesters from Move On and Color of Change, in dissent regarding Fox’s portrayal of African Americans. Nas and Fox News have been at odds since Fox aired a story painting the rapper as a violence glorifying thug. While Nas does have some gritty songs, he has always tried to include positive messages in most of his music. The Fox News spot was pretty slanted; check it out.

Well, sure add that Nas is not the worst after you’ve made it seem like he’s the spawn of Satan. Nas is a pretty savvy businessman, so there is no doubt he would choose songs appropriate for the occasion. He has plenty of songs about brotherhood, unity and love.

Well, sure add that Nas is not the worst after you’ve made it seem like he’s the spawn of satan. Nas is a pretty savvy businessman, so there is no doubt he would choose songs appropriate for the occassion. He has plenty of songs about brotherhood, unity and love. So in response to being pushed, Nas is pushing back, with antagonistic songs like “Sly Fox” and now the protest. This show of disatisfaction was bigger than Nas.

Over the last several weeks, FOX has had a string of incidents that many believe are a veiled attempt to prey on racism and intolerance and cast the Obamas as “outsiders”: an on-screen graphic referred to Mrs. Obama as “Obama’s baby mama,” a pundit “confused” Obama with Osama and then joked they should both be assassinated, and an anchor called a loving fist bump between Barack and Michelle a “terrorist fist jab.” In February, Bill O’Reilly talked about calling a “lynching party” to deal with Michelle.[source]

Joined by Nas, activist groups Move On, Color of Change, approximately 100 other protesters paid the Fox studios in Manhattan a visit to deliver 620,127 petitions demanding that Fox “end its pattern of racist attacks against Black Americans.”

According to Billboard, picket signs slogans included “Fox News: Your Source for Racist Smears” and or “Fair and Balanced? Fairly Racist.”
