I noticed a bit of an (accidental?) meme running through my feedreader and decided to share with you, dear readers, some of my favorite things.

Favorite Band: Right now I am really digging Nico Vega. I’ve raved about Aja’s voice on more than one occasion, and their show at the Viper Room was the best concert I have been to in my life (no I’m not exaggerating). This underground band out of LA has landed a place on my list of all time favorite bands, joining the ranks of Nine Inch Nails, Outkast, and the Raconteurs. I’m also listening to Gnarls Barkley, Kid Sister, Lykkie Li and The Last Shadow Puppets

Favorite Movie: I’ve been a Tarantino fan since Reservoir Dogs, I’m surprised when people who seem to be movie fans, don’t like his movies. To each his own…Kill Bill kinda came out of no where, but as soon as I saw it, no other movie has replaced it as my favorite. Aside from the obvious creativity and QT signature dialogue style, I could not resist Uma Thurman as the baddest femme fatal since Foxy Brown and Cleopatra Jones. One of my favorite scenes is when Elle Driver and Beatriz Kiddo duke it out in Bud’s trailer. Check it out:

Favorite Book: I’ll admit that I don’t read nearly as many books as I used to, who has the time or energy when their entire day is spent reading and writing. However, Toni Morrison’s Paradise has been my favorite for nearly 10 years. There is no denying that Toni Morrison is one of the best storytellers of our time, and Paradise is arguably the master of all masterpieces in her literary catalogue. It is a cerebral and intricate tale woven together with rich and tactile details.

Guilty Pop Culture Pleasures: I tried to resist the Reality TV phenomenon…oh, who am I kidding? I got completely caught up in it. I watch it all (irregularly of course) from ANTM and Project Runway, to Tori and Dean and American’s Best Dance Crew, to Supper Nanny and The Mole. There is no Reality TV show that I won’t give a chance if I happen to catch an episode and some are so juicy and dramatic, I try to catch them every time they come on.

I can’t live without…my laptop, my Blackberry and my iPod. I take them with me almost everywhere. I have to be inundated with music on a constant basis - it’s a strange chemical addiction - and it has been about two years since I have been completely off the grid. Truth be told, I kinda like it that way, and when I do go off the grid, people appreciate that it doesn’t happen often.

What about you? What are your favorite things?
