I have to be real with you, while I love being a freelance music writer, covering all of my own travel expenses and having no “day job” to speak of is a bitch. I would love to pretend I have all of the disposable income in the world, but the truth is that I’m currently running on faith and optimism.

Here’s the thing: I have been granted press access to Austin City Limits this year and the biggest event I have had the possible opportunity to cover to date. Unfortunately, I may not be able to go because I just can’t afford it. So I’m going out on the limb here, asking for donations from my friends, family and readers, to aid in my being able to cover one of the biggest music festivals of the fall. Theoretically, someone will believe in me, see my vision and be compelled to invest indefinitely.

The coup for you? I will be eternally grateful and those of you who contribute get the pleasure of knowing that you are helping to fund the citizen journalism project of a burgeoning music critic.

I have just under 30 days to raise $400, whadya say?

If you’ll look at the top right of this page, you’ll notice a handy PayPal donation button. I’d love it if you’d contribute to the cause; any amount is appreciated.
